Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas: Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast Cancellation for the following areas: Batemans Coast Warnings for Wednesday 06 July Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas: Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that: People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas. Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf. Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage. Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket. Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.     Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, New South Wales Minor To Major Flood Warning For The Nepean, Hawkesbury And Colo Rivers Issued at 03:59 PM EST on Tuesday 05 July 2022 Flood Watch Number: 31 MAJOR FLOOD PEAKS ABOVE MARCH 2022 OCCURRING AT NORTH RICHMOND, WINDSOR AND SACKVILLE TODAY MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WISEMANS FERRY ABOVE MARCH 2022 FLOOD LEVELS WITH FURTHER RISES POSSIBLE MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT PUTTY ROAD SIMILAR TO MARCH 2021 FLOOD LEVELS River levels at locations upstream of Penrith have begun falling. North Richmond is falling very slowly and the main flood peak is currently arriving at Sackville. Major flood peaks are likely at Sackville, Putty Road Lower Portland later today and into this evening. Significant river level rises have been observed along the Mcdonald river at St Albans, with river levels currently above the March 2022 flood level (8.33 metres). Significant river level rises have been observed along the Colo River upstream of Putty Road, with river levels currently slightly below the March 2022 flood level (16.66 metres). Further rises are possible. Minor flooding is occurring along the Upper Nepean River at Menangle Bridge, which peaked at 16.61 metres Sunday morning with major flooding. Major flooding is occurring along the Hawkesbury River at North Richmond where river levels peaked at 14.18 metres early Monday morning. Renewed rises resulted in a second similar peak of 14.19 metres Monday evening. The peaks observed are slightly below the March 2021 flood level (14.38 metres) and higher than the March 2022 flood peak (14.08 metres). Major flooding is occurring along the Hawkesbury River at Windsor, where river levels peaked at 13.93 metres around midday Tuesday, exceeding the March 2022 flood event (13.80 metres). Major flooding is occurring along the Hawkesbury River at Sackville, Lower Portland and Wisemans Ferry with levels above the March 2022 flood levels. Major flooding is occurring along the Colo River at Putty Road Further rainfall is forecast over the next 6-12 hours, which may cause further rises and prolonged flooding. This situation is being closely monitored, and revised predictions will be provided as necessary. The Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall has been cancelled for the Metropolitan, parts of Hunter and Central Tablelands Forecast Districts, though a Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall for parts of Mid North Coast and Hunter Forecast Districts is current. Upper Nepean River: Moderate flooding is occurring along the Upper Nepean River at Wallacia. Minor flooding is occurring Menangle at Camden. The Upper Nepean River at Menangle Bridge peaked at 16.61 metres around 07:50 am Sunday with major flooding. Menangle fell below the moderate flood level (9.20 metres) around 4:30 pm Tuesday and is currently at 9.15 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The Nepean River at Menangle Bridge may remain above the minor flood level (5.20 m) during Wednesday. The Nepean River at Camden Weir peaked at 12.72 metres around 02:00 pm Sunday, with moderate flooding, falling below the moderate flood level (8.30 metres) around 02:00 pm Tuesday. Camden is currently at 8.98 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The Nepean River at Camden Weir is likely to remain above the minor flood level (6.80 m) into Tuesday evening. The Nepean River at Wallacia Weir peaked at 13.84 metres around 02:45 am Monday. Wallacia Weir gauge failed Monday morning. Model outputs suggest Wallacia fell below the major flood level (11.00 metres) on Tuesday morning with moderate flooding continuing. Data is not currently available for Wallacia Weir. The Nepean River at Wallacia Weir is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (8.70 m) late Tuesday evening and may remain above the minor flood level (5.00 metres) during Wednesday. Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean River: Major flooding is occurring at North Richmond, Windsor, Sackville, Lower Portland and Wisemans Ferry. Minor flooding is occurring at Penrith. The Nepean River at Penrith peaked at 9.51 metres around 02:00 am Monday with moderate flooding, falling below the moderate flood level (7.90 metres) around 3:30 pm Monday. Penrith is currently at 6.04 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The Nepean River at Penrith is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.90 m) until late Wednesday morning. The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond (WPS) peaked at 14.18 metres around 03:15 am Monday. Renewed rises were observed overnight Monday with a second peak of 14.19 metres around midnight Monday. North Richmond is currently at 13.95 metres and falling very slowly, with major flooding. The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond (WPS) is likely to remain above the major flood level (10.50 m) for the remainder of Tuesday and into Wednesday. The Hawkesbury River at Windsor peaked at 13.93 metres midday Tuesday, with Major flooding, higher than the March 2022 flood level (13.80 metres). Windsor remains steady around its major flood peak and is expected to start falling very from Tuesday evening. The Hawkesbury River at Sackville is expected to peak near 10.90 metres around 04:30 pm Tuesday, with major flooding. The Lower Portland gauge is currently offline. Lower Portland is estimated to be around 9.30 metres and approaching its major flood peak. The Hawkesbury River at Lower Portland is likely to peak near 9.50 metres (estimated) around 08:00 pm Tuesday, slightly higher and later than previously forecast, with major flooding. The Hawkesbury River at Wisemans Ferry is expected to reach around 5.60 metres 06:00 pm Tuesday, with major flooding. Further rises are likely. Colo River: Major flooding is occurring along the Colo River. The Colo River at Putty Road is currently around 10.70 metres and rising with major flooding (estimated). Further rises are possible. Issued at 12:33 pm Tuesday, 5 July 2022. Weather Situation A low over the Tasman Sea extends a trough to the central coast of NSW. cancellation of severe weather warning for the following areas: Hunter, Metropolitan and Illawarra Damaging Surf is no longer occurring in NSW. A separate hazardous surf warning remains current for parts of the NSW coast today. The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Wave buoy observations off the Sydney coast reached 5.4 metres significant wave height overnight but have since decreased below 5 metres. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Keep clear of fallen power lines. * Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. No further warnings will be issued for this event. Flood Watch For The Mid-North Coast Issued at 12:19 PM EST on Tuesday 05 July 2022 Flood Watch Number: 7 FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN CATCHMENTS OF THE MID-NORTH COAST FROM WEDNESDAY FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN MANY CATCHMENTS AROUND THE ILLAWARRA, SYDNEY, CENTRAL COAST, AND CENTRAL WEST HUNTER REGIONS, INCLUDING MAJOR FLOODING IN THE HAWKESBURY AND NEPEAN RIVERS. A trough across the central coast extends from a low over the Tasman Sea, while a strong high over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge to the southern Tasman Sea. The combination of these features is bringing wet and windy conditions to many eastern areas of New South Wales. Conditions are gradually expected to ease although the trough will linger on the northern half of the coast today. Rainfall may lead to flooding in catchments along the NSW Mid-North Coast. as well as possibly cause higher levels in areas north of Sydney where flood warnings are current. A Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall has been issued for parts of Mid North Coast and Hunter Forecast Districts..
